NEXT: committed to responsible timber
NEXT is a UK based retailer offering clothing, footwear and home products with more than 500 stores in the UK and Ireland, as well as around 200 mainly franchised stores in over 30 countries overseas. NEXT is committed to the responsible sourcing of timber and timber containing products. Their vision is to work with supply chains to deliver timber products which come from responsible or certified sources such as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). NEXT aims to set a target for 100% of timber to come from responsible and certified sources by 2025.
Timber Due Diligence system and the EUTR
The EU Timber Regulation, or EUTR, was designed to reduce illegal logging by making sure that illegal timber and timber products can't be sold on the EU market. The Timber Due Diligence system, developed by ChainPoint, helps NEXT meet the due diligence requirements as stated by the EUTR.
